India inoculates one crore covid-19 vacine doses to 18-44 age group

In a major development, India has inoculated over one crore people between the age of 18-4 under country’s third phase of vaccination drive that kick started on May 1. Presenting the data, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare further said that overall vaccine doses administered in the country have exceeded 19.60 crore.

A total of 19,60,51,962 vaccine doses have been administered through 28,16,725 sessions, the health ministry said.

“These include 97,60,444 HCWs who have taken the 1st dose and and 67,06,890 HCWs who have taken the 2nddose, 1,49,91,357 FLWs (1stdose), 83,33,774 FLWs (2nddose), 1,06,21,235 beneficiaries under 18-44 age group (1stdose), 6,09,11,756 1stdose) and 98,18,384 (2nd dose) beneficiaries aged 45 to 60 years. 5,66,45,457 1stdose beneficiaries and 1,82,62,665 22nd dose beneficiaries of more than 60 years old,” it said.

Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra account for 66.30 per cent of the total doses administered in the country, it added.

Meanwhile, the Centre on Monday said that it has given more than 21.80 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses (21,80,51,890) to all states and union territories, so far. It also said that 1,80,43,015vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTS which are yet to be administered.

“Government of India has so far provided, both through the free of cost category and through direct state procurement category, more than 21.80 crore vaccine doses (21,80,51,890) to States/UTs,” the Union Health Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

Witnessing a declining trend, India has reported 2,22,315 new coronavirus infections in a single day, the lowest in round 38 days, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 2,67,52,447. In the same time, the country also recorded 4,454 daily deaths, taking the death toll to 3,03,720.
