Karnataka: 66 students of a Medical College have been found to be corona positive

While the emphasis is on applying both doses of the vaccine to avoid COVID-19 across the country, 66 students of a medical college in Karnataka have been found to be corona positive. It is worth noting that all these students had received both the doses of the vaccine. Officials in Dharwad, Karnataka said that 66 students of SDM College of Medical Sciences were found positive when 300 out of 400 students were tested for Covid after an event in the college. As a precaution on the orders of the District Health Officer and the Deputy Commissioner, two hostels of the college have been sealed. Officials said that at present, students have been refused to come to the college.

The infected students had received both doses of the vaccine. At present they have been quarantined. Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil told that they will get the treatment done inside the hostel itself. Patil said, “The remaining 100 students will also be tested for COVID-19. We have quarantined the students. We have sealed two hostels. Treatment and food will be provided to the students. Anyone can step out of the hostel.” Will not be allowed to keep. The students who are yet to undergo the Covid test will also be quarantined in the same campus.

There is a apprehension that these students got infected only after taking part in a program organized in the college recently. Officials said, “We are ascertaining whether the students had gone out of the college premises or not..At present, we suspect that the infection has spread due to the program organized for the students in the college. We have tested all the students who participated in that program. We have also traced the primary and secondary contacts. All the students were given both doses of the vaccine.” He said, some infected students have cough and fever while others currently do not have any symptoms.
