Second case of Omicron variant found in Delhi

Special vigilance is being taken for people coming from abroad in Delhi.

Amidst the increasing cases of Omicron in the country, another case of Omicron variant has come to light in Delhi. After the genome sequencing report of a passenger who arrived in Delhi from Zimbabwe, it has come to know that the patient is infected with Omicron. After this, the number of patients infected with Omicron in Delhi has increased to two. South Africa has also been included in the travel history of the patient.

Special vigilance is being taken for people coming from abroad in Delhi. So far, genome sequencing of 27 patients admitted to Lok Narayan Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital has been done. Of these, the report of 25 has come negative, while Omicron has been found in the samples of two people.

The person infected with Omicron is Indian and had gone on a foreign trip, from where he was found infected with corona on his return.

Regarding the Omicron variant in the country, the central government had issued a revised guideline for travelers coming from abroad. In the guideline issued from December 1, it was made mandatory for all travelers coming from at-risk countries to undergo RT-PCR test.

Along with this, testing of two percent people coming from other countries on random basis is also included. Despite this, there is a steady increase in the cases of Omicron in the country. The first cases of Omicron variant were reported in the country in Karnataka.
