India slams Pakistan’s propaganda at UN, says ”Unworthy to even respond”

New Delhi: India strongly criticised Pakistan following its foreign minister’s discussion of the Jammu and Kashmir issue at a Security Council meeting on women, peace, and security, dismissing the claims as “malicious and false propaganda” that was “unworthy responding to.”

India’s UN Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj rejected Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s comments on Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as “baseless and politically motivated” in her response on Tuesday.

What did Ruchira Kamboj say?

She stated, “Before I conclude, let me dismiss the frivolous, baseless and politically motivated remarks made by the delegate of Pakistan regarding the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Continuing further, she said “Rather, our focus is where it shall always be – positive and forward-looking. Today’s discussion is critically important to strengthen our collective efforts to accelerate the full implementation of the Women, Peace and Security agenda. We respect the topic of the debate and recognise the importance of time. As such, our focus shall remain on the topic.”

India has previously informed Pakistan that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are an integral part of India, and will remain so indefinitely.

India and Pakistan’s strained ties

India has repeatedly expressed its desire for positive and peaceful relations with Pakistan, but emphasizes that it is Pakistan’s responsibility to establish a safe and secure atmosphere for such interactions, free from terrorism and hostility.

Following the Pulwama terror attack, in response to which India’s air force bombed a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist training camp in Balakot, the relationship between India and Pakistan became severely strained.
