The newly launched Vande Bharat Express between Jammu and Srinagar has witnessed an impressive response, with over 16,000 passengers traveling within the first four days of operation.

The train was flagged off on May 2 by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw along with Union Minister Jitendra Singh, marking a significant step in enhancing connectivity in the region.
Vande Bharat Express: High occupancy in initial days
According to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal, a total of 16,349 passengers traveled between May 2 and May 5, with an average occupancy rate of around 82% during this period.
Rising passenger demand
The train has recorded a steady increase in occupancy. On May 4, around 4,680 passengers traveled with an occupancy rate of 82%, which further surged to 96% on May 5, reflecting growing demand among travelers.
Tourists and pilgrims driving growth
Officials noted that pilgrims and tourists are increasingly preferring the Vande Bharat Express over conventional trains, attracted by its speed, comfort, and modern amenities.
Operational details
On Tuesdays, only one pair of trains (Nos. 26404 and 26403) operates on the route, during which around 2,744 passengers undertook the journey.
Positive passenger feedback
Passengers have appreciated the smooth and jerk-free ride, especially on winding tracks, along with the availability of clean and nutritious onboard food. Officials are also conducting regular inspections to maintain service quality.
