Kedarnath Yatra Halted In View Of Heavy Rain

After the temporary suspension of Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, now Kedarnath Yatra in Uttarakhand has also been stopped. Rudraprayag district administration said that Kedarnath Yatra has been postponed in view of heavy rains in Sonprayag. In view of heavy rains, this decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of the pilgrims in view of the possibility of any untoward incident.

It is raining in many districts of Uttarakhand since Saturday morning. The Meteorological Center has predicted the heaviest rain in Pauri and Nainital. While there has been water-logging on the Gangotri National Highway, many roads and bridges have collapsed in Pithoragarh.

At the same time, Badrinath Highway has been closed due to debris in Dangbad. Heavy rain continues in Tehri. While the Kaladugi road in Haldwani is submerged. Apart from this, very heavy rain has also been predicted in Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, Bageshwar, Almora, Pithoragarh. Heavy rain continues in Dehradun since morning.

Director of Meteorological Center Vikram Singh said that in view of heavy to very heavy rains in Nainital and Pauri in 24 hours, people living on the banks of rivers, streams as well as landslide prone areas need to be careful. A report in this regard has been sent to the State Government and the Disaster Management Department.

According to Singh, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar, Champawat, Bageshwar, Almora, Pithoragarh.

On the other hand, in view of the possibility of heavy rains in the capital and surrounding areas, DM Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar has ordered the officers related to disaster management to remain alert. DM has also issued necessary instructions after meeting with the officers related to disaster management. Along with the culvert in Munar, many roads have also collapsed due to rain in Bageshwar. The motorway in Soupi has collapsed, while debris has entered several shops. Erosion is taking place from Ramganga river in Bhakuna. Drinking water line has been damaged in Bhakuna and Kalapar Kapri.
