Manoj Tiwari Injured Outside CM Kejriwal’s House, While Protesting Against The Ban On Chathh Puja Celebration

BJP leader Manoj Tiwari was injured while protesting against the ban on celebration of Chhath Puja outside the residence of CM Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi. It is being told that he got hurt due to falling from the barricading while running away from the water cannon. He has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, where he is undergoing treatment. Chhath Puja celebrations have been banned in public places in Delhi. Regarding this, Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta has also said that this festival will be celebrated in a grand manner. In view of the situation of Covid-19, DDMA had banned Chhath Puja celebrations in public places. Manoj Tiwari had also talked about protesting against this order.

According to the information, this year also, Delhi BJP leaders and hundreds of workers staged a sit-in near Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Tuesday against the ban on celebrating Chhath festival on river banks and public places. Meanwhile, BJP MP from North-East Delhi Lok Sabha seat Manoj Tiwari was injured during the protest and was taken to Safdarjung Hospital.

Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta and others slammed the Kejriwal-led Delhi government for banning the festival celebrated by lakhs of Purvanchalis in the capital. BJP leaders are pressurizing to withdraw this ban.

However, Gupta had said on Monday that Chhath festival would be celebrated with pomp and the BJP-ruled municipal corporation would making arrangements for it. The protesters demanded the Kejriwal government to send a proposal to the DDMA to lift the ban on the festival. Earlier, Kejriwal had said that the decision to ban Chhath in public places has been taken keeping in mind the health and safety of the people.

At the same time, Tiwari criticized the Delhi government for banning Chhath Puja celebrations, saying that if the ban is not lifted, the BJP will hold protests in Delhi. Tiwari said that by banning Chhath Puja in the city, Kejriwal has insulted lakhs of Purvanchalis. He said that if the ban was not lifted, he would be compelled to hold mass protests along with the Purvanchalis.

Tiwari had also announced to start a ‘Chhath Yatra’ on this issue by interacting with the people of Purvanchali community living in Delhi to seek their opinion on holding Chhath Puja celebrations in public places. Delhi Chhath Puja Committee officials recently met Manoj Tiwari at his residence and urged them to celebrate the festival on the banks of Yamuna river, ponds and other public places by following the rules of Covid.

Significantly, on September 30, the Delhi government will not allow Chhath Puja festival in public places, public grounds, river banks and temples, citing the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital. In an order issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), the public has been advised to celebrate Chhath Puja at their homes.

Chhath Puja is a four-day festival and is celebrated in large numbers by people (also known as Purvanchalis) living in the national capital of Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh.
