On Republic Day eve, a bomb in Manipur leaves three people injured

An explosion occurred in Ukrul town in Manipur on Wednesday, a day before the Republic Day celebrations, injuring at least three persons, one of them was critically hurt, according to the police.

The incident happened in the town’s Gandhi Chowk in the late afternoon.

49 year old women suffers injuries on her stomach is in critical condition

Police stated that they have not yet determined what caused the explosion but believe it may have been caused by a hand grenade. A police officer reported that of the three injured, one, a 49-year-old women, is in critical condition after suffering injuries to her stomach, while the other two are thought to be in no danger.

The woman was then directed to a different medical facility in Imphal, which is around three to four hours away, after the injured trio were taken to the Ukhrul district hospital. The explosion left a small hole in the road and caused some cars parked at the side of the road to sustain minor damage. So far, no extremist group has taken responsibility for the explosion.
