Twitter blocked the handle of IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for an hour on Friday morning. The reason for this was stated that they violated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of America. However, Twitter later reopened the handle of Ravi Shankar Prasad, giving a warning. Ravi Shankar Prasad has shared this information first through indigenous microblogging and social networking site Koo and then through Twitter.

After the matter came to light, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that this has happened to him before. Tharoor is also the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology. He said that being the chairman of this committee, I can say that we will seek answers from Twitter India regarding the rules and procedures to be followed by Ravi Shankar Prasad and my account locking and operations in India.

Tharoor tweeted, "As the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology, I can say that we would like to inform Ravi Shankar Prasad from Twitter India and my accounts and the rules and procedures to be followed by him while operating in India. Will ask for clarification.

Tharoor said, Indians creatively make videos using short passages of foreign music. Instead of letting the clip increase the popularity of their song, the copyright holders have issued notices. The special thing is that the complainant in this case is the International Association of Phonographic Industry. Sony Music's rights are available to Rasputin. Ironically, at their last conference in India, I was the keynote speaker!

Raviji, the same thing just happened to me. Clearly DMCA is getting hyperactive. This tweet has been deleted by @Twitter because its video includes the copyrighted BoneyM song"Rasputin": https://t.co/ClgP2OKV1o #DanceIsNotJihad pic.twitter.com/IqQD50WhaU

Friends! Something highly peculiar happened today. Twitter denied access to my account for almost an hour on the alleged ground that there was a violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of the USA and subsequently they allowed me to access the account. pic.twitter.com/WspPmor9Su
