Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a two day tour of West Bengal and has met classical vocalist Padma Bhushan Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty in Kolkata. Chakrabarty won the Padma Bhushan Award in 2020.

Meanwhile, the union minister also had lunch at the house of a tribal BJP worker in Bankura district in an attempt to woo the Matua community that is dominant in the region.
Amit Shah was accompanied by BJP national secretary Kailash Vijay-vergiya, BJP national vice-president Mukul Roy and the state party chief Dilip Ghosh.
Shah is scheduled to hold organisational meetings in several districts and he will also meet representatives from various communities and social groups
