Arvind Kejriwal Slams Centre Says “Taxes For Rich Waived, Imposed On Poor”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has attacked the central government. Responding to PM Modi’s ‘rewari culture’ taunt, Kejriwal said that the common man is feeling cheated, because the central government has imposed tax on the food of the poor, while big businessmen have a loan of Rs 5 lakh crore. has been forgiven.

Arvind Kejriwal said that for the last few days, the way the people are being opposed to the free facilities, it is being said that all the free facilities should be closed. Has the economic condition of the central government not worsened?

Kejriwal said that when the central government brought the Agneepath scheme, it was said that the need to bring it was because the expenditure on pension of soldiers has increased so much that the central government is unable to bear it. Delhi CM said that it is happening for the first time after independence that any government is saying this.

“Where has the central government’s money gone? The central government shares a part of taxes it collects with the states. Earlier, it was 42 per cent. Now it has been cut to 29-30 per cent. The centre is collecting twice-thrice the amount of taxes it collected in 2014. Where is all the money going?” Mr Kejriwal said.

“We are about to celebrate 75 years since independence. The centre has taxed gehu-chawal of the poor, which has never happened. It is a cruel thing to do. Tax on gehu, tax on chawal, tax on gur, tax on lassi, tax on paneer…how did it get so bad that the centre has to tax the food of poor people?” Mr Kejriwal said.

“The centre’s budget in 2014 was ₹ 20 lakh crore, today it is ₹ 40 lakh crore. The centre has spent ₹ 10 lakh crore on waiving off loans of super rich people, their friends. Had they not waived off these loans, the government wouldn’t need to tax people’s food, they would have money to pay soldiers’ pensions. The government has also waived off ₹ 5 lakh crore worth of taxes of big, big companies too,” Mr Kejriwal alleged.

It was further said that the Central Government has also refused to bring the 8th Pay Commission. Kejriwal claimed that the central government has said that there is no money for MNREGA and this year it has been cut by 25%.

Delhi CM asked that the central government has a budget of 40 lakhs, but where is all the money going? Kejriwal further alleged, “They (Centre) waived off lakhs and crores of loans of their super rich friends, why? If these loans are not waived then no tax would have to be levied. 3.5 lakh crore income from petrol and diesel tax? Where did the money go?”

Kejriwal further alleged that, ‘There is talk of closing government schools. It is being said that free treatment should be stopped, but in such a situation, from where will the poor get the money. How will the country run if government money is spent on a few people?”

On behalf of the BJP, Amit Malviya, the head of IT Cell, has retaliated on Kejriwal’s claim. He said that the central government has not waived the loan, but has recovered a loan of Rs 6.5 lakh crore since 2014-15. He said that the Center has not said anywhere that the Agniveer scheme has been brought to reduce the pension bill. Malviya said that the Modi government has money for the army. It was also said that the government has not imposed any tax on open food items. At the same time, VAT charged by the states has been levied already.

Amit Malviya further said that Kejriwal is lying that the government has cut the budget of MNREGA scheme. Rather the states have failed to spend the money. Malviya further said that the central government is giving free ration to 80 crore people.
