BJP: In lead up to 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP has appointed state chiefs for Punjab, Jharkhand, Telangana and Andhra. This development might be the first in a series of changes that BJP is going to make going into the polls next year. Fresh faces have been given opportunity to prove their mantle while Andhra Pradesh a former union minister comes back to take command.

The appointed leaders

Sunil Jakhar has been named party President in Punjab while Babulal Marandi has been handed command in Jharkhand. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy is the new party President for poll bound Telangana and former Union minister D Purandeswari returns to Andhra Pradesh as President.

OBC leader Etela Rajender has been appointed as the chairperson of the election management committee in Telangana.

Preparation for Polls

The BJP is on track to clear course for smooth sailing into the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The leadership of Bandi Sanjay Kumar in Telangana was being challenged by newcomers and the decision to change leadership was decisively made. As per some sources Kumar may get position in central ministry after the potential reshuffling of cabinet by the BJP.

In Punjab Sunil Jakhar has replaced  Ashwani Sharma while Babulal Marandi has come in place of Deepak Prakash. It is important to note that Jakhar is rebel from Congress and Etela Rajender left BRS to join BJP. The new Andhra BJP Preisident Purandeswari was a union minister under the UPA governement.

The development has further fueled speculations of a cabinet reshuffle in the center.
