Delhi gets its first transgender councillor

Aam Aadmi Party’s transgender candidate Bobby Kinnar has won from Sultanpuri-A Ward 43 in Delhi’s MCD elections. For the first time the Aam Aadmi Party made a transgender a candidate.

On getting the ticket, Bobby told that she has been associated with AAP since the Anna movement and later when the party was formed.

In fact, for the first time in Delhi, a political party had given ticket to a transgender for election. Bobby Kinnar, who left a mark through social work in the ward, was found at the top of the survey and was declared a candidate for the municipal elections. Bobby has also contested the Municipal Corporation elections in the year 2017 as an independent candidate. She says that public service is her aim.

38-year-old Bobby Kinnar is also the president of the Delhi unit of ‘Hindu Yuva Samaj Ekta Awam Anti-Terrorism Committee’. Bobby has been associated with this organization for the last 15 years. Bobby has studied till 9th ​​standard. Bobby Kinnar’s family and especially her younger brother are very happy with this victory.

Bobby Kinnar said in a conversation with ‘media’ that I want the people of my society to come forward in politics, like before, now the people of our society are getting away from politics. There are many educated people in our society. I want all such people to come into politics and do social service so that our name also increases in the society.

Will work to end corruption – Bobby

Referring to the problems in her area, Bobby Kinnar had said that common people have to pay bribes to get small works and documents done. If I become a corporator, I will work to end corruption. I will not allow officials to take bribe and will get public works done for free. Bobby further said that during the campaign, she will take the work of the Kejriwal government to the public in Delhi.

Voting was held on 4 December

Voting was held on December 4 for the Municipal Corporation (MCD) elections in Delhi. The results have come on 7 December. Delhi has 70 assembly seats. But, elections were not held for 2 seats.
