Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Election Commission has released the schedule for the next Lok Sabha and assembly elections in Andhra, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim. The Lok Sabha Elections of 2024 are scheduled to take place in seven phases beginning on April 19 and ending on June 4 with vote tallying. Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim are scheduled for May 13, April 19, and May 13, respectively.

Addressing Misinformation Challenges

“Tackling misinformation in today’s digital age is complex. We have put certain measures in place to ensure misinformation is nipped in the bud. We’re proactive in debunking fake news,” CEC Rajiv Kumar said. Political parties should maintain appropriate social media behaviour and abstain from disseminating news without verifying its accuracy on social media, according to CEC Rajiv Kumar. adding that those who create fake news will face harsh consequences.

Election Commission’s Directive on News Ads

CEC Rajiv Kumar said, “There is no place for bloodbath and violence in the elections. From wherever we will receive the information of violence, we will take action against them.” Additionally, the Election Commission declared that disguising news ads as news and requesting political parties to desist from making personal attacks is prohibited.
