PM Modi Meets Lok Sabha Speaker, Here’s Detail

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior ministers of his cabinet met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Thursday evening after Parliament was adjourned. Significantly, due to the deadlock, proceedings are not being held in the Parliament in the second part of the budget session. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju and a few other ministers were among those who called on the Speaker along with the Prime Minister. In the midst of the deadlock of the Parliament session, PM Modi’s meeting with the speaker in this way can be considered very important.

PM Modi meets Lok Sabha Speaker

According to a report NDTV, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla after the house was adjourned on Thursday amid the impasse over Rahul Gandhi’s controversial statement on Britain in Parliament and the Hindenburg Report. He has met the Speaker along with several of his senior ministers. Although the agenda of this meeting is not known, but it could be a courtesy meeting and it is also possible that during this the deadlock was also discussed.

There is a demand to disqualify Rahul

The appropriation bill has been passed today in the second part of the budget session of Parliament. Earlier, the budget of Jammu and Kashmir was also passed. This meeting between PM Modi and the speaker is also important because Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has started demanding his disqualification from the membership of Parliament after he was sentenced to two years in a criminal defamation case on Thursday itself. BJP is demanding disqualification of Rahul in this matter as per law and it is in the hands of the Speaker to take a decision on it. Rahul Gandhi has been sentenced by a Gujarat court for using objectionable words for Modi’s surname.

The impasse in Parliament is because the opposition is adamant on demanding a JPC probe into the Adani-Hindenburg case, while the ruling BJP is ready for nothing less than an apology for Rahul Gandhi’s alleged anti-national remarks in London. Rahul had allegedly made objectionable remarks about Indian democracy at Cambridge University. Due to the conviction of Rahul Gandhi on top of that, there is a possibility of deepening this controversy. However, Rahul Gandhi has been granted bail for the time being to approach the higher court.
