Raghav Chadha: Raghav Chadha, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a Rajya Sabha MP, strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons issued to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding an alleged excise policy scam. Chadha alleged that the “agencies of the BJP” are planning to arrest Arvind Kejriwal, suggesting political motivations behind the move.

Chadha emphasized that Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha seats hold significance, and the BJP appears fearful of losing all of them in the event of an opposition alliance, which he referred to as the “INDIA bloc,” contesting the Lok Sabha elections. He claimed that the BJP’s strategy is to put Arvind Kejriwal in jail to secure victory in these seats.
Chadha further suggested that the BJP might follow a similar strategy in other states. He mentioned Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren as a potential target, given his rising popularity, and anticipated the BJP’s actions in Bihar, where RJD leader and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav might be targeted. Additionally, Chadha noted the BJP’s focus on West Bengal, where they might consider arresting Mamata Banerjee and her nephew Abhishek.
According to Chadha, the strategy appears to involve arresting top leadership or party presidents of opposition parties, with the aim of consolidating BJP’s position in the elections.
These statements from Raghav Chadha followed the ED’s summons to Arvind Kejriwal and the recent arrests of AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam.
The AAP has alleged that Arvind Kejriwal might be arrested after questioning on November 2, and they argue that the move is politically motivated, suggesting that it is not related to corruption charges but rather aimed at suppressing opposition voices critical of the BJP. Arvind Kejriwal had previously been questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the same case in April.
