Rahul Gandhi’s Twitter Message

Taking to Twitter, he said, “Call us whatever you want, Mr. Modi. We are INDIA.” Attacking the BJP over the ongoing violence in Manipur, Gandhi said that the Opposition’s mega alliance will “rebuild” the idea of India in Manipur. “We will help heal Manipur and wipe the tears of every woman and child. We will bring back love and peace for all her people. We will rebuild the idea of India in Manipur,” he further tweeted. Rahul’s response came after PM Modi criticised the opposition coalition, claiming that the usage of the phrase “India” wouldn’t be effective because “the East India Company had also used India and India was also in the name of the Indian Mujahideen.”

Prime Minister Modi Calls Opposition a ‘Directionless Alliance’

PM Modi criticised the alliance as a collection of dishonest politicians and parties by citing the history of various organisations, including some banned extremist and terrorist groups that used the nation’s name. While speaking to the BJP‘s parliamentary party gathering this morning, PM Modi made the joke. He claimed that such a “directionless opposition” had never before been seen. On the fourth day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge responded to the prime minister’s statements before Rahul did. He remarked, “We are asking for a debate on Manipur, but PM Modi is talking about the East India Company.” Watch Video Here.

Prior to the general elections the following year, the opposition came together to establish the “Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance,” or I.N.D.I.A.
