In the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections, the Congress has secured absolute majority by hoisting the flag of victory in 24 wards. On the other hand, BJP has not been able to cross even the double figure. BJP has registered victory in 9 wards. BJP candidate and former Mayor Satya Kaundal has also lost the election. The CPI(M) has won one seat. Polling for 34 wards of Shimla Municipal Corporation was held on May 2 and 102 candidates were in the fray. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has congratulated the people, candidates, workers and office bearers of Shimla for their massive victory in the Municipal Corporation Shimla elections.

Kanta Suyal of Congress from Ward No. 3 Kaithu, Urmila Kashyap of Congress from Ward No. 4 Annadel, Monika Bhardwaj of Congress from Ward No. 6 Tutu, Anita Sharma of Congress from Ward No. 7 Majyath, Dalip Thapa of INC from Ward No. 8 Baluganj, Kiran Sharma of Congress from Ward No. 9 Kachchighati, Ward. Uma Kaushal of INC from Ward No. 10 Tutikandi, Simi Nanda of INC from Ward No. 11 Nabha, Sushma Kuthiala of INC from Ward No. 14 Rambazar, Umang Banga of INC from Ward No. 15 Lower Bazar and Atul Gautam of INC from Ward No. 16 Jakhu, Sheenam Kataria from Ward No. 17 Banmore, Ankush Verma of Congress from Ward No. 18 Engineghar, Mamta Chandel of Congress from Ward No. 19 Sanjauli Chowk, Vishakha Modi of Congress from Ward No. 21 Lower Dhalli and Congress from Ward No. 22 Shanti Vihar. K Vineet Sharma wins the election.
Narendra Thakur of Congress from Ward No. 23 Bhattakuphar, Kuldeep Thakur of Congress from Ward No. 24 Sangti, Shanta Verma of Congress from Ward No. 25 Malyana, Surendra Chauhan of Congress from Ward No. 28 Chhota Shimla, Rachna of Congress from Ward No. 29 Vikas Nagar Bhardwaj, Ward No. 30 from Kangana Dhar to CongressK Ramratna Sharma, INC’s Chaman Prakash from Ward No. 33 Khalini and Alok Pathania of INC from Ward No. 34 Kanlog have won. The CPI(M) has won one seat. CPI (M) candidate Virender Thakur has won the election from Ward No. 5 Summerhill.

BJP’s Meena Chauhan from Ward No. 1 Bharadi, BJP’s Saroj Thakur from Ward No. 2 Ruldubhatta, BJP’s Kalyan Chand Dhiman from Ward No. 12 Fagli, BJP’s Bittu Kumar from Ward No. 13 Krishnanagar, BJP’s Kamlesh from Ward No. 20 Upper Dhalli Mehta, Ward No. 26 from Panthaghati, BJP’s Kusum Thakur. BJP’s Rachna Jhina from 27 Kasumpti, Asha Sharma of BJP from Ward No. 31 Patyog and BJP’s Nisha Thakur from Ward No. 32 New Shimla have won the election.
