Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Suvendu Adhikari from Nandigram on Monday demanded the cancellation of Mamata Banerjee’s nomination. Suvendu has claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has hidden information about six criminal cases in the nomination.
Sources in the state’s Chief Electoral Officer’s office said that Mamta’s right-hand officer, in her complaint to the Election Commission, said that Banerjee had informed about 5 cases filed against her in Assam and a case filed by the CBI in West Bengal. Has not given He said that the Chief Minister has given the case numbers, but has not told what crimes he is accused of.
He said, “Our respected Mamata Banerjee of Trinamool has not written about 6 cases in her affidavit. There is one case related to CBI and there are 5 other cases in Assam. I have appealed to the Election Commission and I hope that they will resolve it also. ”
TMC President and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had filed nomination from Nandigram seat on 10 March. On the other hand, Suvendu Adhikari filed nomination from this seat on 11 March. The Congress-Left alliance has made Meenakshi Mukherjee a candidate from Nandigram.
Suvendu Adhikari left the Trinamool Congress in December and joined the BJP. On the Trinamool ticket, in 2016, the official defeated the CPI candidate from Nandigram by a margin of 81,230. After Suvendu Adhikari left TMC, Mamta announced that she would contest from Nandigram seat.
Votes will be cast on Nandigram seat on April 1. Votes will be cast in eight phases in West Bengal from March 27. The votes will be counted on 2 May.
