NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea challenging the
central government's Agnipath scheme next week. A PIL has been filed in the
Supreme Court related to the Agnipath scheme wherein, the Airforce
aspirants said that their career will be shortened from 20 years to 04 years.
Advocate ML Sharma said, "My plea is about the cancellation of the
notification put out by the government. The government can bring out any scheme
but it is about right and wrong. More than 70,000 are still awaiting
appointment letters".
In June, The Central government launched the Agnipath scheme for recruitment
in the armed forces. The scheme is meant to be a transformative step,l
targeting youth in the armed forces. It is presumed that the average age
profile of the Indian armed forces will go down by four years after
implementing this scheme.
