Swati Maliwal: Now a video has surfaced that shows Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal being dragged by a car for 10-15 metres, with her hand stuck in the vehicle’s window. A day earlier Swati had alleged that she was molested by a drunk man outside AIIMS in new Delhi.
The DCW chief said she was inspecting the state of women security in Delhi along with her team following Kanjhawla case when the incident took place. A 20-year-old woman was dragged to death trapped under a car in Kanjhawla of the national capital in December on January 1 night.

Swati reprimands accused in video
In the video, Swati Maliwal can be seen refusing a ride offered by the driver. “Sorry. I can’t hear you. Where will you drop me off? I have to go home. My relatives are on the way. “Where do you plan to drop me off? This is the second time you have come. I am saying repeatedly that I don’t want this,” Swati Maliwal can be heard saying in the video. She goes around the car to the driver’s side and moments later, Swati is heard screaming as her hand gets stuck in the car’s window and she gets dragged.
Maliwal was accompanied with her team during the inspection and was stationed at some distance when the incident took place outside gate No. 2 at AIIMS on Thursday night.
Accused arrested
Police said the accused approached Maliwal in his car and asked her to get in. When she reprimanded the man, he rolled up the window, trapping her hand. When he drove off, Maliwal was dragged for a short distance. The accused was later arrested and sent to 14 days in judicial custody.
The accused was identified as Harish Chandra, 47, a resident of Sangam Vihar in south Delhi. Police described him as a former telecom company employee but is currently unemployed.
