CM Yogi Adityanath Extends Greetings on National Science Day, Pays Tribute to C. V. Raman

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Friday greeted scientists, researchers and citizens on the occasion of National Science Day, highlighting the importance of scientific innovation in nation-building and self-reliance.

In his message, the Chief Minister recalled that the day is observed in memory of Nobel laureate C. V. Raman and his discovery of the Raman Effect, calling him a source of inspiration for generations of Indian scientists. He said Raman’s contribution brought global recognition to India’s scientific capability and remains a milestone in modern physics.

Emphasis on Research and Innovation

Adityanath urged citizens to strengthen the national resolve for an “Atmanirbhar and developed India” through research, innovation and scientific thinking. He stressed that scientific temperament and technological advancement are essential pillars for sustainable development and global competitiveness.

The Chief Minister conveyed his congratulations to scientists and scholars for their dedication and contributions, noting that their work plays a crucial role in shaping policy, industry growth and societal progress.

Significance of the Day

National Science Day is observed annually on February 28 to commemorate Raman’s discovery announced on this date in 1928. Across India, educational institutions, research bodies and government organisations mark the occasion with exhibitions, lectures and science outreach programmes aimed at promoting scientific awareness.

Officials said state institutions in Uttar Pradesh are also organising awareness events, workshops and student activities to encourage interest in science and innovation among youth.

This year’s National Science Day celebrations across the country are centred on promoting scientific awareness and encouraging youth participation in research-oriented careers. Schools, universities and laboratories are hosting exhibitions, lectures and demonstrations to highlight the role of science in everyday life and national development.

Role of Scientific Institutions

Leading agencies such as Indian Space Research Organisation and Defence Research and Development Organisation also marked the occasion by showcasing recent innovations and achievements, underscoring India’s growing capabilities in space technology, defence science and applied research.
