In his message, the Chief Minister recalled that the day is observed in memory of Nobel laureate C. V. Raman and his discovery of the Raman Effect, calling him a source of inspiration for generations of Indian scientists. Significance of the Day
National Science Day is observed annually on February 28 to commemorate Raman’s discovery announced on this date in 1928. Across India, educational institutions, research bodies and government organisations mark the occasion with exhibitions, lectures and science outreach programmes aimed at promoting scientific awareness.
Officials said state institutions in Uttar Pradesh are also organising awareness events, workshops and student activities to encourage interest in science and innovation among youth.
This year’s National Science Day celebrations across the country are centred on promoting scientific awareness and encouraging youth participation in research-oriented careers. Schools, universities and laboratories are hosting exhibitions, lectures and demonstrations to highlight the role of science in everyday life and national development.
