EDUCATION: High chances of taking decision on reopening of DU campus after diwali

Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said that the decision regarding opening of the college campus will be taken after Diwali.

The left-affiliated All India Students Association (AISA) and other student union bodies has protested and organised hunger strike for their demand for the reopening of the DU campus, Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said that a decision will be made soon for the reopening of DU campus after Diwali. According to the opinion of experts, there is a fear of recurrence of Covid-19 cases.

Other than that, Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh said that in a recent meeting of teachers and principals, they suggested increasing the timing of colleges by a couple of hours to accommodate the extra number of students admitted to avoiding overcrowding.

The members of the Left-affiliated All India Students’ Association (AISA) and other student bodies are still on a hunger strike to press the administration for their demand to reopen the campus for students.

The Delhi University has resumed laboratory classes for final year undergraduate and postgraduate students from September 16, 2021, but the attendance is not that high.

University of Delhi has released the special cut-off list for those candidates who were eligible but could not/did not take admission in the earlier three cut-offs for any reasons. All the candidates can apply for admission against special cut-off till October 27. The special cut-off is the last declared cut-off of the respective programme and college. Candidates can apply to a single programme and college by ensuring they meet the required eligibility conditions and a declared special cut-off.
