Lucknow University celebrates its 102nd anniversary today

Lucknow University: The Lucknow University is celebrating its 102nd Foundation Day on Friday, November 25. The university’s sprawling campus has been beautifully decorated with spectacular lights. Flags from its associated colleges in Lucknow and other districts are also adorning the lush green lawns of the university.

Alok Kumar Rai, vice-chancellor (V-C), said, “This is for the first time a formal event is being organised on the university premises after achieving A++ grade in NAAC.”

Notable alumni to attend function

“This year for the very first time we have invited six notable alumni from different fields. The programme will be conducted in two parts. In the first half of the programme, the special alumni will share their journey and experience and will also be honoured by the guests. While, in the second half, cultural programmes will be organised by the former students of the university itself,” Rai said.

Renowned alumni will be sharing their recollections and success stories with students and teachers at a function in the evening when the celebrations officially start. A lavish cultural evening has also been planned as part of the celebrations.

Some celebrated alumni of the university are Ritu Raj Awasthi, judge and chairperson of 22 Law Commission of India, Manu Kumar Srivastava, chief secretary to government of Maharashtra, Shashi Prakash Goyal, additional chief secretary to chief minister, UP, and Jayanti Prasad  among others.

Museums opened for students

Meanwhile, in a remarkable gesture, the university has given access to all of its students to its museums. They can easily visit them and study its extensive and historical collections.

Lucknow University spokesperson Durgesh Srivastava said, “We have opened the gates of all our museums for students and the public on Friday. Anyone can visit the campus on the foundation day and have a look at the extensive collection.”

Srivastava said the event will be live-streamed on all social media platforms and on LU’s official YouTube channel.
