NEET 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the National Entrance cum Eligibility Test (NEET) to applicants for undergraduate medical programs in various regions of India. Speaking of 2024, following the test agency's successful administration of the exam and the revelation of the results, a flurry of significant accusations, including paper leaks and exam irregularities, broke out.

Paper Leaks Beyond NEET 2024

Cases of paper leaks in places like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in recent months or years are making headlines amid the NEET 2024 scandal. Let us discuss a few competitive exams that were held in conjunction with NEET in the past, when there was a lot of controversy around claims of paper leaks.

In order to be admitted to undergraduate medical programs, applicants must take the National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET). The NEET exam was administered with great success this year (2024) as well. But a fresh commotion has emerged after the competitive exam results were made public on June 4. Applicants claim that "seven or eight candidates from the same testing center received full marks, indicating irregularities in the testing process." Under such circumstances, the NEET 2024 exam ought to be postponed and rescheduled."

NTA's Response to Allegations

However, the National Testing Agency (NTA) is completely rejecting all such allegations and claims that the results of the examination have been released with complete transparency and there has been no irregularity in it. In such a situation, now it will be interesting to see what is the stand of NTA amidst the demands of the candidates and all the allegations?

Uttar Pradesh

Speaking of Uttar Pradesh, incidents involving paper leaks were highlighted during the constable recruitment test that took place on February 17 and 18, 2024. Following this, the state saw a tremendous uproar, prompting the Yogi government to quickly cancel the recruitment exam and give instructions to hold another one in the upcoming six months.

Madhya Pradesh

Speaking of MP, during the Patwari recruitment exam that was conducted on January 8, 2023, a case involving a paper leak also came to light. Following this, there was a great deal of agitation in the state, and thousands of applicants who took the test called for its annulment. Following the candidates' complaints, the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission conducted an investigation and ultimately decided to cancel the test.

Bihar

Following the completion of the third part of the teacher recruitment exam in Bihar on March 5, there were claims of a paper leak. The exam was postponed after the Public Service Commission looked into the candidates' claims, and the Patna High Court has also been involved in the case.

Rajasthan

Speaking of Rajasthan, it took over 2.5 years for the case involving the paper leak in the September 2021 Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) recruitment to come to light. In actuality, the RPSC had recruiting notices out in February 2021 for 859 Sub Inspector and Platoon Commander positions.

The chosen applicants received joining instructions during this time, and their Police Academy training began. But in March 2024, the Special Operations Group (SOG) made public the paper leak, filed a case against 40 specific defendants, and detained 14 trainee sub-inspectors.
