Tulsidas Jayanti 2022: History and importance

Tulsidas Jayanti 2022: Goswami Tulsidas is also known as Tulsidas. Tulsidas was an eminent Saint and a renowned poet with immense knowledge. He is popularly famous for his contribution to art and literature.

As per the Hindu Lunar calendar, he was born on Saptami of the Krishna Paksha (the dark fortnight of the moon) in the Shravana month. As per the Gregorian calendar, the day falls in July or August. This year, the Tulsidas Jayanti falls on August 4.

Tulsidas Jayanti is celebrated for celebrating his work in the field of art and literature and majorly for bringing two of the greatest epics from ancient India available to all of us. He recited the Sanskrit Ramayan in Awadhi.

To honour the great saint, every year, on this day people recite paragraphs and verses of Sri Ramcharitmanas at Hanuman and Ram Temples.

Some of his quotes are- “To follow the path of knowledge is to tread on the edge of a sword. Once you get into it, there is no escape”.

“In dependence, there is no happiness, even in a dream”, “There can be no happiness for a being nor can its mind know any peace even in a dream so long as it does not relinquish desire, which is an abode of sorrow”, and many more.
