Reports recently claimed that rising actor Aneet Padda would play legendary star Madhubala in an upcoming biographical film. However, the speculation has now been firmly denied. A spokesperson for Yash Raj Films Talent clarified that the news about Padda being cast in the project is UNTRUE.
The clarification quickly sparked mixed reactions online. Some fans said they were disappointed with the update. Others started debating which actor would be the right choice to portray the iconic star. Interestingly, many social media users still believe that Padda could have been a convincing choice for the role.
Netizens React To Aneet Padda NOT Being In Madhubala Biopic
The rumours began after reports suggested that Padda, who gained attention with a YRF-backed romantic blockbuster in 2025, had been chosen to play Madhubala in a film directed by Jasmeet K Reen. The filmmaker is known for directing the dark comedy-drama Darlings, starring Alia Bhatt and Vijay Varma.
However, YRF Talent dismissed the reports soon after they began circulating. According to the spokesperson, the claims linking Padda to the biopic are not true. Despite this clarification, fans continued discussing the casting rumours online.
An Instagram page Instant Bollywood reposted the update. Soon, the comments section was filled with opinions from fans. Many users felt that Padda’s appearance and screen presence matched Madhubala’s charm.
One user wrote, “Aneet would be perfect for the biopic.”
Another added, “Aneet and Madhubala look alike! Aneet is perfect for this movie.”
A user said “She is good but Kiara advani is much better.” Another wrote, “Yeh Kiara ka career kha ke rahegi.”
Several users also claimed Padda resembles the legendary actor. One user said, “She does resemble her quite a bit, she would have been the perfect fit. They should take audience ‘s opinion and cast her.” Another comment read, “Lekin sach yahi hai ki Aneet Padda Madhubala jaisi khoobsurat hai.”
At the same time, some fans pointed out that Madhubala’s beauty and legacy are difficult to match. One comment stated, “Madhubala Goddess of beauty thi, Aneet ho ya koi aur uski copy to kar lega per uski barabri nahi kar sakta.”
Apart from Padda, many users also suggested other actors such as Kareena Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the comments section.
Madhubala’s Legacy In Hindi Cinema
The Madhubala biopic was officially announced in March 2024 by Sony Pictures International Productions. The project is being developed in collaboration with Brewing Thoughts Pvt Ltd and Madhubala Ventures. The company is led by Madhubala’s younger sister Madhur Brij Bhushan along with Arvind Kumar Malviya.
Madhubala remains one of the most celebrated stars of Hindi cinema’s golden era. During her career, she appeared in several popular films such as Mr & Mrs 55, Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, Kala Pani and Howrah Bridge. These films helped establish her as one of the most admired actors of her time.
Her most iconic performance came in Mughal-e-Azam (1960), where she played Anarkali opposite Dilip Kumar’s Salim and Prithviraj Kapoor’s Akbar. The film remains one of the most influential classics in Indian cinema.
Sadly, Madhubala passed away in 1969 at the age of 36. Even today, her beauty, charm and performances continue to inspire film lovers.
Although Padda is not part of the Madhubala biopic, she is set to headline Maddock Films’ and Dinesh Vijan’s Shakti Shalini. Her entry into the MCHU was announced alongside the release of Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana’s film Thamma.
Shakti Shalini is scheduled to release in cinemas on December 24.
