Bobby Deol has spoken candidly about the changing face of Bollywood, where discipline and professionalism now matter more than ever. In a recent interview, the actor reflected on why many performers struggle to survive in the industry today, along with sharing deeply personal experiences from his own life. From strict work ethics on set to emotional growth off screen, he offered a rare glimpse into his journey.
He also discussed sobriety, family relationships and how life lessons have reshaped his outlook over the years.
Bobby Deol EXPOSES Brutal Bollywood Truth Behind Actor Failures
Bobby Deol explained that the film industry has become far more demanding and less tolerant of unprofessional conduct. He pointed out that high production costs and tight schedules leave little room for difficult behaviour.
He told Esquire India, “One of the biggest differences from the ’90s to now is that nobody has time for all that anymore. Everything is so expensive—each day of shoot is such a cost—that nobody is going to put up with bad behaviour. Maybe once or twice they’ll let it slide, but if you’re going to be difficult, they’re just going to take someone else.”
DON'T MISS
He further gave a reality check to actors struggling with attitude issues. He added, “There are certain actors, and I’ve come across some who still are badly behaved, but I just feel really sad for them. I’ve seen this story before and trust me, at the end of the day, it will be them left wondering why things went wrong, why the phone stopped ringing and why they’re so lonely. You can’t just throw tantrums and expect everyone to be okay with it.”
Bobby Deol On Personal Transformation
Alongside industry insights, Bobby Deol also reflected on his personal transformation after quitting alcohol. He explained that the decision came from health awareness and responsibility toward his craft.
Bobby shared, “For an actor, your body, your face, are the commodities that you’re selling. I cannot afford to mess with that,” he said. “As I grow older, I feel tired faster than I would a few years ago. I need to take greater care of myself.”
He added that quitting alcohol turned out to be unexpectedly simple. “I don’t miss it. In fact, I keep thinking, wait, it was this easy?” he shared.
The actor also noted that sobriety has helped him become more present in his personal life and strengthened his bond with his family.
Actor On Family, Memories And Emotional Growth
Bobby Deol also spoke about his emotional connection with his late father, Dharmendra, recalling how old videos and memories continue to stay close to him. He said, “Sometimes it feels like he’s talking directly to me.”
The actor shared a special moment when his father once told him, “Ab tu khud ko pehchaan gaya.”
He further explained that loss has brought him closer to his half-sisters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, helping the family heal over time and grow stronger together.
