Border 2 Song Launch: ‘Papa Jaisi Ek Film Karoonga…’ Emotional Sunny Deol Recalls How THIS Film Of Late Dharmendra Inspired Him

Sunny Deol turned emotional at the recent Border 2 song launch event in Jaisalmer. The actor joined the cast and crew to launch “Ghar Kab Aaoge“. The song captures the pain and longing of soldiers who stay away from their families. For Sunny, the moment felt deeply personal.

Standing in the desert city, Sunny spoke from the heart. He looked back at the days when Border was first released. He did not speak like a superstar, but a man revisiting old memories. Sunny shared how the film connected him to people across the country.

The event came at a difficult time in his life. Sunny recently lost his father, veteran actor Dharmendra, at the age of 89. The grief was visible on his face. The song launch slowly turned into a moment of tribute.

Sunny Deol Remembers Dharmendra At Border 2 Song Launch

Sunny Deol greeted the audience warmly before sharing his thoughts. He spoke about why Border still holds a special place in his life. He said, “Kaise hain aap log? Mein aap ke parivar ka hissa hi hoon, jab se maine Border ki hain. Maine Border ki thi kyuki maine jab apni papa ki film Haqeeqat dekhi thi, woh mujhe bohot pyari lagi thi. Tab main bohot chhota tha. Jab main actor bana tab maine tay kiya ki main bhi papa jaise ek film karunga. JP Dutta sahab ke sath maine baat ki aur hum dono ne decide kiya ki hum iss subject mein film banayenge jo bohot hi pyaara hein so aap sab ke dilo mein basa hua hein.”

The crowd responded with loud applause. Many fans looked emotional too. Sunny explained how Haqeeqat had stayed with him since childhood. The 1964 film was based on the 1962 Sino-Indian War. It showed the courage of Indian soldiers in Ladakh. Dharmendra played the lead role and left a strong impression on his son.

Sunny also spoke briefly about his mental state. He said, “Main zyada kuch nhi bol paaunga, mera dimaag hila hua hain.”

About The Sequel

Border 2 is directed by Anurag Singh. The film is a spiritual sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 classic Border. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar and JP Dutta. The film will release in theatres on January 23, 2026, ahead of Republic Day.

This time, the story expands its scale. The film shows the combined power of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. It is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The focus remains on sacrifice, unity and courage.

Sunny Deol leads the cast and returns to the war genre once again. He is joined by Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Each actor plays a real-life hero. Diljit plays Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon. Varun portrays PVC awardee Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya. Ahan Shetty appears as Navy officer Lt Cdr Joseph Pius Alfred Noronha.
