Brahmastra mystery unravelled, it’s Deepika Padukone playing Ranbir’s mother in Brahmastra

Brahmastra: The film Brahmastra may have done fairly well at the box office but its OTT version has really caught people’s attention. The film’s OTT version leaves no doubt that there is Deepika Padukone too in the Ranbir-Alia starrer. In the ‘blink and you miss’ scene, Deepika is seen playing Shiva – baby Ranbir’s mother.

Brahmastra was released on September 9 and got lukewarm response from the audience. Some people after watching the film in theatres, claimed that they saw a glimpse of Deepika too in the film while others said they didn’t have such luck.

OTT version

But all speculations were laid to rest when the film’s OTT version was released on November 4. Deepika is clearly seen in one of the scenes, where she is seen holding baby Shiva in her hands. This scene comes just after the interval.

Social media is flooded with fans’ comments who after watching the movie on Hotstar, confirmed it was Deepika. One of the users wrote, “Here is Deepika Padukone’s glimpse from Brahmastra part one – shiva.

Another tweet read, “Today, I watched Brahmastra for the second time. I hadn’t noticed Deepika Padukone before. But this time, it was so evident that she is there in the film! She has to be there in the second part too!”

“Deepika Padukone in and as Amritha in Brahmastra, eagerly waiting for dev part 2,” wrote another user.

First part

Brahmastra Part One: Shiva is the first part of the planned trilogy in the Astraverse by Ayan Mukerji.  The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy and Nagarjuna Akkineni.

Produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Namit Malhotra, and Ayan Mukerji, the film has drawn inspiration from stories in Hindu mythology. The film follows Shiva, an orphan with pyrokinetic powers who discovers that he is an astra, a weapon of enormous energy. He attempts to prevent the strongest of the astras, the Brahmāstra, from falling into the hands of Junoon, the queen of dark forces that share a history with him.

Shah Rukh Khan has a cameo in the first part. According to reports, the second part will feature Ranveer Singh.
