Aryan Khan’s Netflix series Ba***ds of Bollywood has run into trouble just days after its release. Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede has filed a Rs 2 crore defamation case against Aryan and his father Shah Rukh Khan in the Delhi High Court. He claims the show damages his reputation by showing him in a bad light.

In his plea, Wankhede called the show “false, malicious, and defamatory.” He said the series “disseminates a misleading and negative portrayal of anti-drug enforcement agencies, thereby eroding public confidence in law enforcement institutions.”

He urged the court to halt the streaming of the content and said he would donate the Rs 2 crore damages to Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital for cancer patients.

The Ba***ds Of Bollywood Scene In Question

The issue centres around a character in the very first episode. The scene shows a loud officer barging into a Bollywood party, shouting about the industry’s drug problem, and saying he is part of a “war against drugs” on behalf of “NCG.”

Viewers quickly noticed that the character looked a lot like Sameer Wankhede. His white shirt, dark trousers, hairstyle, and overall appearance reminded many of the former NCB officer. Social media users linked this portrayal to Wankhede’s role in the 2021 raid, when Aryan Khan was arrested on drug charges.

In his petition, Sameer Wankhede said the series was deliberately conceptualised and executed. He claimed it was an intent to malign his reputation in a colourable and prejudicial manner. He added that the show mocked him and harmed his public image.

The show, which started streaming on September 18, has been trending on Netflix. Many fans praised Aryan Khan’s debut as bold and edgy, while others criticised it for crossing limits by mocking real-life people.

So far, neither Shah Rukh Khan nor Aryan Khan has commented on the case. The matter was heard in court today, but no order has been passed yet.

While the legal fight continues, Ba***ds of Bollywood is still available to stream on Netflix.
