De De Pyaar De 2 has had a mixed journey at the box office. The Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh starrer started below expectations and has struggled to match the buzz of the first film. After some midweek growth thanks to Tuesday offers, collections fell again on Wednesday, marking another low point. Despite this, the film is now close to the Rs 50 crore mark in India.
De De Pyaar De Box Office Collection Day 6
The movie had a slow start on Friday, earning Rs 8.75 crore. Experts had expected a stronger opening, ideally in double digits, to give it a chance to outperform the original. Saturday saw a recovery, with collections rising to Rs 12.25 crore, a 40% jump from the first day. Sunday kept the momentum going, bringing in Rs 13.75 crore, up 12.24% from Saturday.
Monday saw a steep drop to Rs 4.25 crore, a decline of over 69% from the weekend high. Tuesday offered a small bounce, earning Rs 5.25 crore, a 23.53% increase. Early estimates suggest Wednesday brought in around Rs 3.50 crore. In six days, the film has collected roughly Rs 47.75 crore in India. It is expected to close its first week near Rs 50 crore.
Financially, the film is on track to surpass the lifetime earnings of Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s Param Sundari, which earned around Rs 51.28 crore. De De Pyaar De 2 still needs about Rs 3.53 crore to beat that mark.

About This Ajay Devgn Starrer Sequel
The sequel continues the age-gap romance of Ashish (Ajay Devgn) and Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh). The story explores their attempt to win approval for their marriage from Ayesha’s father, Rakesh (R Madhavan), who is roughly Ashish’s age and secretly traditional despite his progressive image. To stop the relationship, Rakesh brings in a younger suitor, Adi (Meezaan Jafri), but a twist reveals that Ayesha and her mother knew about the plan and orchestrated events to reconcile Ashish and Rakesh, ultimately securing the family’s blessing.
Critics feel the sequel lacked the charm of the first film. While the original was fresh and emotionally engaging, this continuation was seen as formulaic. Humour often felt forced, and the central chemistry between Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh fell short. R Madhavan’s performance stood out, but the pacing issues and predictable second half left many viewers underwhelmed.
Despite the modest box office, the film is financially secure. With a reported budget of Rs 100 crore, De De Pyaar De 2 had already recovered a major portion of its cost through non-theatrical rights. OTT and satellite rights reportedly brought in Rs 107 crore, with music rights adding another Rs 15 crore. This pre-release recovery of Rs 122 crore, combined with theatrical earnings, ensures the film remains profitable for T-Series and Luv Films.
Even though the domestic box office didn’t match expectations, the strong non-theatrical performance makes De De Pyaar De 2 a safe investment for its producers.
