Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta recently found himself in the middle of a social media storm. He shared a positive review of Dhurandhar, praising the film and its director Aditya Dhar. But one line in his tweet sparked confusion and backlash online.
Since then, he has been facing massive backlash. This forced him to issue a clarification.
Sanjay Gupta Says His Tweet Wasn’t Against Dhurandhar
On his social media, Sanjay Gupta shared how much he enjoyed Dhurandhar. He praised Aditya Dhar’s direction and said watching the film was a fun experience, especially in IMAX with its music. He highlighted the director’s efforts and congratulated the entire team for their work.
However, his mention of the word “propaganda” caused confusion. Some users thought he was criticising the film. This led to a wave of abusive messages and criticism directed at him shortly after his post.
To clear the misunderstanding, Sanjay posted another tweet. He wrote, “I can’t believe the whole lot of id**ts abusing me for this tweet about #Dhurandhar … What I mean is that I don’t think there is any propaganda in the film. Get a life, guys.”
After his clarification, netizens reacted again. Some came to his support, pointing out that even positive reviews often face trolling.

“This is the problem. Anupama Chopra gave an awesome review, she was trolled so she took down the review. Hrithik gave a good review, he had to edit his words. There is a reason they are called trolls.”
“Propaganda sunte he log pagal ho jaate hai sir.”
“Sir galti naa aapki hai naa unki base wo propeganda word hi read kr rahe hai.”
“Your choice of sentences were obviously not matching with your intentions may be.”
“Instead of saying I’m not interested, you should have said I don’t believe, people misunderstood what you meant.”
