Rumours are spreading fast about the wedding of Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda. Just after the couple tied the knot in Udaipur, social media was flooded with claims that they paid celebrities and influencers to promote their wedding.
While some netizens called it a “PR stunt”, others strongly defended the newlyweds. The debate quickly turned into one of the most talked-about celebrity controversies online.
The issue started when several influencer posts and Instagram stories about the wedding appeared at the same time. One online user accused the couple of running “desperate PR” and even looking for sponsors for what was supposed to be a private event. Soon, the discussion went viral.

A Reddit user shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp text and wrote, “Why the desperate PR and promotions for a wedding. They both have been the kind to do overt publicity…But even for their wedding ?? They make so much money with films and ads, but still want a sponsor for their wedding.”
As the post gained attention, criticism followed. One user wrote, “This couple is so fake.” Another added, “First they want privacy, now wants pr.” One more comment read, “Money and engagement, both are notorious for pr. So they will do it for this too.”
Some users also claimed that influencers were invited to increase visibility. One person commented, “Yes I have seen this too !! Also some influencers have been called for the wedding as well.” Another alleged, “The sweets being distributed are sponsored too and not even the usual theme packed.”
However, many Redditors dismissed these claims. They said the promotional content was likely linked to the clothing brand Manyavar, not Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda. A user wrote, “Manyavar doing this not them, they shot an advertisement some days ago probably this so the brand is trying to milk their wedding.”

There was also buzz about a reported Rs 60 crore offer from Netflix for the wedding’s streaming rights. Some believed this proved the wedding was commercialised. However, reports later claimed that the couple rejected the offer to keep the ceremony private. Supporters argued that if they were truly “fake” or money-minded, they would have accepted such a huge deal.

Despite the online noise, the couple officially married on February 26, 2026, in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The ceremony took place at the luxurious ITC Mementos Ekaaya. Only close friends and family attended.
The wedding honoured both their cultures. They held a traditional Telugu Hindu ceremony in the morning at 10:10 AM. In the evening, they celebrated a Kodava heritage ritual to reflect Rashmika’s roots.

Vijay Deverakonda called Rashmika Mandanna his “best friend” who is now his wife. Rashmika described him as the man who taught her true love.
