Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat released quietly but is turning out to be a surprise hit. With a limited release and little promotion, the romantic drama is performing well at the box office.
Trade tracker Sacnilk reports that the film earned Rs 6 crore on its third day, taking the total domestic net collection to Rs 22.75 crore. This is impressive, especially considering it was released alongside Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma, which earned Rs 55.1 crore in the same period with a much wider release.

The film is also doing better than several other recent Bollywood releases. Dharma Productions’ Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari earned Rs 22.25 crore in three days, while Maddock’s Param Sundari made Rs 26.75 crore. Other films like Shahid Kapoor’s Deva (Rs 19.15 crore), John Abraham’s The Diplomat (Rs 13.3 crore), Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi’s Dhadak 2 (Rs 11.4 crore), and Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency (Rs 10.35 crore) lagged behind.
On day 3, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat recorded a Hindi occupancy of 25.14%, higher than Thamma’s 19.38%. Morning shows began at 9.99% occupancy, rising to 27.71% in the afternoon, and peaking at 31.98% during evening and night shows. The film is running in around 2,400 shows across India (less than half of Thamma’s 5,700), yet it continues to attract strong audiences. Cities like Mumbai (26.50%) and Delhi-NCR (24.75%) reported good response, while Tier-2 cities such as Lucknow (37.50%) and Jaipur (31.00%) performed even better.
Harshvardhan Rane’s growing popularity is a key factor behind the film’s success. His 2016 film Sanam Teri Kasam has built a cult following over the years, helping draw audiences. The film also appeals to fans of intense romantic dramas, a market that remains largely untapped. Director Milap Milan Zaveri has struck a chord with viewers, combining passion, obsession, and emotional drama effectively.

How Much Does It Need To Get A ‘HIT’ Tag?
The story follows Vikramaditya Bhosle (Harshvardhan Rane), a wealthy politician who becomes obsessively infatuated with actress Adaa Randhawa (Sonam Bajwa). Adaa values freedom and initially resists Vikramaditya’s advances. The film explores how obsession can blur the line between love and madness, leading to heartbreak, betrayal, and high-stakes drama. While it touches on themes seen in films like Tere Naam and Raanjhanaa, it brings a fresh, intense emotional flavour.
Despite being a smaller release than Thamma, the film is holding strong at the box office. The Diwali holiday has helped, but word of mouth is driving growth too. Made on a budget of Rs 25–30 crore, the film has already recovered more than half its cost. If it reaches Rs 40 crore, it will earn a HIT tag. The coming weekend will be crucial, and strong audience response could see the film expand to more screens.
