Farah Khan has spoken about her early experience working with actor Akshaye Khanna, saying their collaborations in the 1990s were not easy. In a recent interview, she revealed that she found the actor difficult to work with during that time and even tried to avoid films that had him in the cast.
Akshaye Khanna is currently back in the spotlight after appearing in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. His performance has made many fans revisit his old films, including his comic role in Farah Khan’s 2010 film Tees Maar Khan. The movie did not perform well at the box office when it released, but later became popular online. Clips from Akshaye’s scenes are still widely shared on social media.
Farah said that her memories of working with him in the early years were not pleasant. According to her, his behaviour on set often made things uncomfortable.
Farah Khan Says Akshaye Khanna Was Difficult To Work With In The 90s
Speaking on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Farah Khan said her first few projects with Akshaye Khanna were stressful. She explained that the actor behaved very differently in the 1990s and was not easy to handle during shoots.

The choreographer said, “In the ’90s, I did a couple of movies with Akshaye, and after that I was traumatised. Because he used to be a different person. Yes, introverted, but not a nice person on set. Whenever I heard that Akshaye Khanna was in a film, I used to say – I don’t have the dates.”
Farah also said that the actor looked irritated most of the time during that phase of his career. She believes he was going through a difficult period personally, which affected his behaviour on set.
Farah shared, “I think at that time he himself had said that he was losing his hair. He was constantly irritable. He used to throw things and say, ‘What kind of dialogue is this?’ He used to be that kind of person.”
Akshaye Changed During Dil Chahta Hai
Farah Khan said her opinion about Akshaye Khanna changed when they worked together on Dil Chahta Hai. The film was directed by her cousin Farhan Akhtar and also starred Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan.
She said she could not refuse the film, but she noticed that Akshaye had become much more relaxed by that time.
Farah revealed, “He had completely changed by then. He had reconciled with his hair. In Dil Chahta Hai, he became very chill. Before that, if there was water or rain in a scene, he would always wear a cap, like see every rain song of his, such as in Taal. But after Dil Chahta Hai, something changed.”
Farah also praised his dancing skills and said many people do not realise how talented he is. She said, “He is a brilliant dancer, if you watch ‘Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe,’ he is dancing better than Aamir and Saif.”On the work front, Akshaye Khanna was last seen in Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which brought him back into the spotlight. He will next appear in the Netflix courtroom drama Ikka with Sunny Deol.
