R Madhavan has shared his thoughts on the ongoing Marathi vs Hindi language debate in Maharashtra. In a calm and clear response, the actor said that language has never been a problem for him, either in his personal life or professional career. His comments come at a time when the language row has sparked strong opinions across the country.

Here’s What R Madhavan Said

Speaking to IANS, the Shaitaan star said, “No, I have never experienced it. I speak Tamil. I speak Hindi. And I have studied in Kolhapur also. I have learnt Marathi also. So, I have never had any problem because of language. Neither because of knowing it nor because of not knowing it.”

Madhavan grew up in Jamshedpur (Bihar, now Jharkhand) and has lived across different Indian states. He believes that India’s diversity should be celebrated, not used to divide people. His comments follow a recent Maharashtra government rule asking primary schools to add Hindi as a third language, alongside Marathi and English.

This move, based on the national three-language policy, was met with criticism by regional groups. The issue grew when videos showed MNS workers allegedly targeting non-Marathi speakers. Amid the noise, Madhavan’s peaceful take is being praised as a much-needed reminder of India’s multilingual culture.

He said that language should bring people together, not push them apart.

Other Celebs Who Reacted To Ongoing Language Debate

Madhavan isn’t the only celebrity to weigh in on the debate. Singer Udit Narayan also shared his view and said, “We live in Maharashtra, and it is my 'Karma bhoomi'. So, the language here is also important. Along with that, all the languages in our country are equally important.”

At Son of Sardaar 2 trailer launch event, Ajay Devgn simply said “Aata Majhi Satakli”  in Singham style.

Other actors like Shilpa Shetty and Sanjay Dutt chose not to comment when asked about the topic at the KD The Devil teaser launch. Many believe they avoided the topic to steer clear of any controversy around their film promotions.

R Madhavan: Work Front
