Dhanush starrer Idli Kadai Trailer released on Saturday evening and has grabbed huge attention online. The film is more than a family drama. It tells a heartfelt story about tradition, ambition, and betrayal, focusing on the bond between a father and son.
What’s In Idli Kadai Trailer?
Dhanush plays Murugan, the son of a small idli vendor whose shop is loved by locals. Murugan dreams big and moves into hotel management, working under Ashwin, played by Arun Vijay. He finds success, but his father misses him and worries that modern methods might spoil the traditional taste of their “idli kadai.”
The trailer shows Murugan asking his father to buy an idli grinder to make batter easily. His father resists, fearing it will affect the authentic taste. This sets up the main conflict between tradition and modern ambition.
Things get more intense when betrayal enters the story. Murugan must decide whether to save his father’s shop and legacy or risk losing everything. The trailer leaves audiences wondering what choice he will make.

More About This Dhanush Starrer
Idli Kadai features Dhanush and Arun Vijay in lead roles, with Nithya Menen and Shalini Pandey in key parts. Veteran actors Sathyaraj, R. Parthiban, Samuthirakani, and Rajkiran play supporting roles. GV Prakash has composed the music, promising an emotional soundtrack that fits the story.
The film is directed, written, and co-produced by Dhanush under Wunderbar Films, with Dawn Pictures also producing. It is scheduled to release in theatres on October 1 and will also have a Telugu version called Idli Kottu.
At the audio launch, Dhanush shared that his childhood inspired the film. He said, “As a kid, I always craved idlis every single day, but I couldn’t afford them. Hence, we started collecting flowers from the neighbourhood… We’d get a little over Rs 2 each for the jobs.” The joy of eating those idlis back then was special, and that memory shaped the essence and title of the film.
After Idli Kadai, Dhanush will appear alongside Kriti Sanon in Tere Ishq Mein. Produced by Aanand L Rai, the film features music by AR Rahman with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. A teaser released earlier showed Kriti in a mysterious avatar. Several BTS pics also surfaced during the shoot.
