The premiere was attended by Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Hrithik Roshan, Farah Khan, and Vicky Kaushal, celebrating director Neeraj Ghaywan’s storytelling. Homebound tells the story of a Muslim and a Dalit youth trying to join the police force, facing caste prejudice, religious divides, and systemic injustice. The film has drawn attention since its Cannes debut. Its selection as India’s official Oscar entry has increased excitement.

Actor Ishaan Khatter shared his excitement with Hindustan Times: He said, “Jab news aaya, main hawa mein ud raha tha, quite literally. I was on a flight back from New York to Mumbai. I lost connection for the duration, and then finally, when it came back, it was like a barrage of messages on my phone, and people were calling me. I couldn’t understand what was going on… Main hawa mein ud raha tha, and abhi bhi neeche aa raha hun dheere dheere.”

Homebound will release in theatres on September 26.
