Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan has never tried to hide how she feels about the paparazzi. She has always been honest about her discomfort. Her relationship with the media is old and warm. But her feelings toward paps are the complete opposite. She spoke openly about this during a recent conversation with Barkha Dutt on #WeTheWomen.
Jaya Bachchan Says Her Relationship With Paps Is Zero
Jaya shared that she respects traditional media because it helped shape her life. She explained this clearly and said, “My relationship with media is fantastic, I am the product of media. But my relationship with paparazzi is zero.” She then raised questions about how paps work. She wondered if they are trained, responsible or aware of what their job really means.
The actress also described how some paparazzi behave today. She added, “Yeh jo bahar gande, tight pant pehnke, hath mein mobile leke… they think just because they have a mobile, they can take your picture and say what they want.” She spoke about the way people pass comments without thinking. For her, the worry is not just the photos. It is about who gets the power to speak for the public and whether they use that power wisely.
Jaya also talked about the hate she receives online. One of her staff members once told her that she is among the most disliked people on social media. Jaya did not hold back. “I said that I don’t care, I don’t give a damn. You hate me, it’s your opinion. My opinion is that I dislike you immensely. You think that you can be like a chuha (rat) who can get into somebody’s house with a mobile camera.”
Jaya feels that mobile phones have made it too easy for strangers to enter someone’s private space. She has never accepted this behaviour as normal.

Actress SLAMS Growing Trend Of Celebs Calling Paps
She also criticised the growing trend of celebrities calling paps to the airport just to get photographed. The actress asked, “If you have to call people to take your photos at the airport, what kind of celebrity are you?” She mentioned her grandson Agastya Bachchan, and said he stays away from social media even though he is young and working in films.
For those unaware, Jaya Bachchan is often trolled for her strict expressions or for refusing photos at events. But Jaya seems clear about her stance. She reacts out of principle and not out of anger.
On the work front, Jaya Bachchan was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani in 2023. She will next be seen in Vikas Bahl’s Dil Ka Darwaaza Khol Na Darling.
