The Telugu movie ‘Kannappa’ opted for a pan-India release with multiple language dubs on Friday. The mythological aspect of huge names like Prabhas and Akshay Kumar creates much buzz. However, all efforts fail to get the actual results, as ‘Kannappa’ sums up only 25.90 crores by the end of day 4.
With an expected budget of Rs 200 crore, this is going to be a massive flop if the movie does not get a rise. But the strong theatrical hold of Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ and Kajol’s ‘Maa’ is making it quite difficult for the South movie.
Kannappa Box Office Collection Day 4
The much-awaited mythological movie of Vishnu Manchu fails to get the box office records it aspires to. It was expected that Monday would bring a decline in ticket bookings. But the makers would not have expected such a harsh decline. Kannappa managed to earn only Rs 2.5 crores on its 4th day in theatres.

This is a massive drop from the Sunday earnings, which were around Rs 7.25 crores all over India. The Telugu movie was released with multiple language dubs, including Hindi, on Friday, June 27. It gets a decent opening with Rs 9.35 crores, followed by Rs 7.15 crores on day 2, Saturday. Makers were expecting a rise in the Saturday and Sunday collections, but things went differently for them.
Kannappa Falls Prey to Piracy
The movie is witnessing blow after blow. Apart from the continuous decline in the box office collection, it falls prey to piracy as well. The main lead, Vishnu Manchu, shared on his X account that “Kannappa is under attack from piracy. Over 30,000 illegal links have already been taken down. This is heartbreaking. Piracy is theft — plain and simple”. The actor urges the audience to avoid watching pirated content and support cinema in the right way.
Kannappa Vs Maa Box Office Performance
The theatrical release of Kajol’s horror drama, ‘Maa’, also impacted the performance of ‘Kannappa’ at the box office. ‘Maa’, being a part of the Shaitaanverse, releases on the same day as ‘Kannappa’.
It receives a poor opening with Rs 4.65 crores, compared to ‘Kannappa’. However, over the subsequent weekend days, the collection shows growth, reaching Rs 6 crores on Saturday and Rs 7 crores on Sunday. It also saw a decline on Monday, with a collection of Rs. 2.25 crores.
Sitaare Zameen Par Holds on to the Box Office
Besides, the hold of Sitaare Zameen Par hinders the growth of the South film ‘Kannappa’. Aamir Khan’s movie is finally going to cross Rs 200 crores this week. It is holding a decent position at the box office with a Rs. 3.75 crore earning on its 11th day.
Its second Sunday collection was Rs. 14.5 crores. This indicates that Kannappa is facing direct competition from Aamir’s highly anticipated comeback movie. This leaves the star-studded Telugu mythological movie to end up with only Rs 25.90 crores by day 4. This is saddening for the makers of ‘Kannappa’. However, they are still hopeful, not yet ready to opt for its OTT release.
