Kannappa Trailer Review: Cheap VFX, Loud Drama, Zero Originality, ‘Biggies’ Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, Mohanlal Fail To Create Magic
Kannappa trailer fails to impress viewers with its poor VFX, loud drama, and lack of originality. Even big names like Akshay Kumar, Prabhas, and Mohanlal can't save it.
The trailer for Vishnu Manchu starrer Kannappa was recently dropped, but it has ruined all the excitement. Touted as a mythological epic, the latest glimpse feels more like an outdated drama, packed with poor VFX, noisy music, and cliched storytelling.
Based on the tale of Kannappa, a tribal warrior who turns into a devotee of Lord Shiva, the film promises a spiritual journey. But the trailer leaves viewers with déjà vu rather than awe, thanks to its recycled visuals and loud, over-the-top presentation.
Kannappa Trailer: Poor VFX And Loud Execution Kill The Mythological Vibe
The trailer begins with dramatic shots like stone idols, divine figures, and slow-motion battles. Prabhas shows up as Rudra, while Akshay Kumar plays Lord Shiva and Kajal Aggarwal is seen as Parvati. Despite their presence, the visuals fall flat. The prosthetics look rushed, and the CGI makes serious scenes unintentionally funny.
The action, meant to feel epic, is too familiar with flying warriors, glowing swords, and slo-mo battle cries that feel lifted straight out of Baahubali or Adipurush. Instead of breaking new ground, Kannappa sticks to old formulas, and not very well. Even the impressive New Zealand locations can’t save the trailer from looking like a loud, chaotic mess.
Vishnu Manchu Starrer May Struggle In Hindi Belt
The trailer also suffers from a loud background score that overwhelms the visuals. What should have been emotional or divine feels like a sound assault. And with no fresh take on the myth, the storytelling feels hollow.
The film includes cameos from Mohanlal, Sarath Kumar, and Mohan Babu, but nothing in the trailer sparks excitement. In the Hindi belt, where audiences have higher expectations for mythological films, Kannappa may struggle to find takers.
Unless the final film brings serious improvement in quality, Kannappa risks becoming another forgettable attempt at mythological storytelling (heavy on ambition, but weak on execution).
To let you know, it is set to release worldwide on June 27.
