The release journey of Karuppu has taken an intense turn, with the makers issuing a strong warning following reports of unauthorised screenings. The high-budget film starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan has been facing multiple disruptions linked to its theatrical rollout. Amid growing confusion, the production house has now stepped in with a firm public message.
According to reports, the film experienced unexpected screening activity in select cities including Mumbai, Pune and Varanasi without proper approval from the producers. This added further complications for the team already dealing with distribution and release challenges.
Makers Take Strong Legal Stand Over Karuppu Content Misuse
The production banner Dream Warrior Pictures, led by SR Prabhu, shared an official notice on social media addressing the issue. The statement clearly warned against any unauthorised access or circulation of the film’s content.
The notice stated, “I am the legal counsel for Dream Warrior Pictures, the Production House of the Tamil feature film “Karuppu” and I issue this Public Notice under instructions from and on behalf of my cilent. My client is the Producer and copyright owner of the film Karuppu, a high-budget feature film starring Actor Suriya, Trishna Krishnan and others, directed by R.J Balaji and with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar and the film is produced with investments running into several hundreds of crores. The film carries substantial theatrical, satellite, OTT, overseas and commercial value and was scheduled for a grand worldwide theatrical release across more than 20 countries and approximately 3,000 screens worldwide.”

It further added, “The general public is therefore strictly cautioned and advised not to download, receive, access, store, circulate, forward, exhibit or share any unauthorised content relating to the film Karuppu in any form whatsoever. Any person found involved in such activities hereafter shall face immediate legal action including civil and criminal proceedings before the appropriate authorities and courts, entirely at their own risk as to costs and consequences.”
Why Was Karuppu Release Delayed
Industry sources suggest that financial and logistical issues played a key role in delays and uncertainty around the film’s release process. Reports also hint at complications in screening coordination across theatres, adding pressure on distributors.
The film, mounted on a massive budget of around Rs 140 crore, is one of the most ambitious projects in recent Tamil cinema.
