Maalik Box Office Collection Day 3: Vikrant Massey Fails To Stop Rajkummar Rao Juggernaut, Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan Tumbles

Rajkumar Rao's Maalik Box Office Collection Day 3 stands at just Rs. 14.09 Cr, signaling a shaky start. While Rao’s fresh performance is appreciated, the film—alongside Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan—struggles to attract audiences, hinting at a tough road ahead.

This weekend saw yet another Bollywood clash between the movies Maalik and Aankhon ki Gustaakhiyan. Both films were released on Friday, July 11. On the one hand, we have Rajkummar Rao in an entirely different gangster mood, while on the other hand, Shanaya Kapoor made her debut opposite Vikrant Massey.

Both films have enough potential and audience excitement to make a box office stir. But Vikrant Massey fails to curb the box office collection of Maalik.  Who has performed according to the expectations? Let's compare Maalik's Box Office Collection Day 3 with Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan to see how it stacks up.

Maalik Box Office Collection Day 3

Rajkumar Rao’s Maalik opened with a decent start, earning ₹3.75 crore on its first day, respectable considering the cast. Alongside Rao, the film stars former Miss World Manushi Chhillar and Bengali cinema icon Prosenjit Chatterjee.

On Day 2, the film saw a 40% jump, collecting ₹5.25 crore and taking the total to ₹9 crore. However, Day 3 witnessed an unexpected dip, with Sunday collections falling to ₹5.09 crore, raising concerns about the film’s momentum.

Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan Collection Report

Vikrant Massey's movie, on the other hand, opens on Friday with only Rs. 0.30 crore. On day 2, it collects Rs. 0.49 crore, whereas its Sunday collection sums up to only Rs. 0.41 crore. This means the debut film of Shanaya Kapoor has only collected Rs. 1.20 crores net in India.

The anticipated budget of Maalik is approximately Rs. 54 Cr, and the movie has only collected Rs. 14.09 Cr so far. This means the film has to maintain a steady hold in the upcoming weeks to become a hit.

Comparison of Both Films' Performance

A look at the box office numbers reveals that both Maalik and Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan are struggling to meet expectations. Surprisingly, both films saw a dip in collections on Sunday, typically the strongest day, signaling a lack of strong word-of-mouth or audience pull.

Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan, made on a modest budget of around ₹20 crore, has failed to recover costs within the opening weekend, making it likely to be a box office flop.
