The death of the actor Meena Ganesh was announced a couple hours ago. As per reports online, the actor suffered a stroke a couple days ago after which she was admitted to hospital. The actor passed away on 19th December, due to some health complications she suffered in the hospital. The news came as a surprise to many, prompting everyone to remember her contribution to cinema. Over the years, Meena who was a mainstay in the Malayalam film industry, entertained fans in supporting roles in over 100 films. Her roles might have been minor but throughout her career, she made her presence felt with every role. So, in honour of her, let’s have a look at her five memorable performances.

1. Meena Made Her Acting Debut In Manimuzhakkam

The leading supporting star of the Malayalam film industry got her start in films with the 1976 film, Manimuzhakkam. The film was based on the Sarah Thomas novel which goes by the name of Murippaadukal. The film went on to win both national and state awards for its story.

2.Meena Ganesh Was Part Of Narendra Prasad’s Film Mizhi Randilum

Next on the list of Meena’s memorable performances is the 2003 film Mizhi Randilum. The film was written and directed by Ranjith. It featured Kavya Madhavan, Indrajith Sukumaran, Jagathy Sreekumar, Sukumari, Dileep, and Revathi. It was released to positive reviews and was the last film of actor Narendra Prasad.

3. Meena Worked With Samuthirakani In The 2015 Film The Reporter

Despite her debut in 1976, Meena Ganesh continued working all the way into the 2010s. She featured as a tea stall owner in the 2015 thriller-romance film The Reporter. The film was directed by Venugopan and starred Kailash, Samuthirakani, Ananya and Abhinaya.

4. Meena Worked In Celluloid, A Film On The Father Of Malayalam Film Industry (Malayalam Cinema)

In 2013, Meena Ganesh also got the opportunity to work in the film Celluloid. The film is written and directed by Kamal. The film is the story of J.C. Daniel, the father of Malayalam cinema. It stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sreenivasan, Mamta Mohandas, and Chandni in the lead roles.

5. Meena Ganesh Also Starred As Thanka In Ithinumappuram

Meena also featured in the role of Thanka in the 2015 drama film Ithinumappuram. The film is directed by Manoj Alunkal and stars Meera Jasmine and Riyaz Khan in the lead roles. It follows the story of a struggling mother and how she faces the ups and downs of life.
