Stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui is safe after Delhi Police stopped an alleged plan to attack him. Two members of the notorious Rohit Godara–Goldy Brar–Virender Charan gang were arrested early Tuesday, preventing any harm to the comedian.

The arrested men (Rahul from Panipat and Sahil from Bhiwani) Haryana, were reportedly taking instructions from foreign-based gangster Rohit Godara. Police said the gang, working with Goldy Brar and Virender Charan, had planned to kill Faruqui, who has over 14.2 million followers on Instagram.

How Delhi Police Foiled The Attack On Munawar Faruqui

The gangsters had allegedly been tracking Faruqui in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Police set up a trap near Kalindi Kunj-Pushta Road after receiving a tip about suspicious activity near New Friends Colony. Around 3 AM, officers spotted a suspicious bike and asked the riders to stop. The men allegedly opened fire, prompting police retaliation. Rahul was shot during the encounter and is also wanted in a triple murder case in Yamunanagar, Haryana, from December 2024.

A police officer told PTI, “This was a carefully planned operation by the gang, but our prompt intelligence and action prevented any harm to Munawar Faruqui.”

Faruqui had faced threats before. In 2024, police intelligence forced authorities to rush him back from Delhi to Mumbai. He is also reportedly on the hit list of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Rising Threats To Munawar And Other Celebrities

Crimes linked to the Goldy Brar gang have increased in recent months, especially targeting celebrities. Earlier this week, the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Dilip Choudhary for threatening comedian and actor Kapil Sharma. Choudhary claimed to be part of the Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara gang.

On September 12, two shooters on a motorcycle opened fire outside actor Disha Patani’s home in Bareilly. The gang later claimed responsibility, showing a clear pattern of targeting high-profile figures.

Munawar Faruqui won Bigg Boss 17 in 2024 and remains popular through TV shows. He is currently hosting Colors TV’s Pati Patni Aur Panga. Following the latest police action, he is under protection. Authorities continue to monitor potential threats from the gang.

The Delhi Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are expected.
