Pritish Nandy: From Sanjay Dutt to Anupam Kher, Celebrities React to Passing Away of Legend

Pritish Nandy: Indian poet, journalist and producer counted his last breath on 8th January 2025. Many celebrities including Anupam Kher, Sophie Choudry, Anil Kapoor paid tribute.

Pritish Nandy: India has seen several journalists, poets and creative thinkers entering the entertainment industry, however, one that marked a new definition of it, was Pritish Nandy. Known for his bold statements and clear stance, PNC group's founder and poet Pritish Nandy passed away on the late night of 8th January 2025. Over the years of his presence in the media industry, Pritish has generated several relationships with Indian celebrities. After his passing at the age of 73 (as per Wiki), his industry friends and celebrities like Anupam Kher, Sanjay Dutt and more took to their social media handles and paid tribute to the media legend. Let's take a look. 

Anupam Kher Misses His Dearest and Closest Friend

Renowned Bollywood star, known for playing the roles of the elderly since a very young age, Anupam Kher wrote a big message in remembrance of his dear friend Pritish Nandy. As per Anupam Kher, he and Pritish used to be extremely close friends at the time. They were inseparable and the Indian poet was an extremely bold person for Anupam Kher, in terms of thoughts. 

He took to X and expressed his emotions, "Deeply deeply saddened and shocked to know about the demise of one of my dearest and closest friends Pritish Nandy! Amazing poet, writer, filmmaker and a brave and unique editor/journalist! He was my support system and a great source of strength in my initial days in Mumbai. We shared lots of things in common. He was also one of the most fearless people I had come across. Always Larger than life. I learnt so many things from him. Off-late we didn’t meet often. But there was a time when we were inseparable! I will never forget when he surprised me by putting me on the cover of Filmfare and more importantly #TheIllustratedWeelky. He was the true definition of यारों का यार! I will miss you and our times together my friend. Rest well." 

Sophie Choudry Pays Tribute PNC Owner

Actress Sophie Choudry, who is well-known for her impeccable charm and aura, also paid tribute to Pritish. The actress played a supporting role in Pritish Nandy Communications' flick Pyar Ke Side Effect (2006) which had Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose as leads. 

Sophie wrote, "Rest in peace @PritishNandy… Was a privilege getting to know you during Pyar ke side effects… Brave, provocative, unique as a filmmaker & journalist/editor. Shall always think of you warmly. Sending love and prayers to the family" 

Kareena Kapoor Remembers Producer Pritish

Another actress who captured the audience's attention for paying tribute to the great media personnel was Kareena Kapoor. The actress worked on one project for Pritish Nandy Communications. She first appeared in Chameli (2004) directed by Sudhir Mishra. She shared a picture from the sets of Chameli on her Instagram story. 

Sanjay Dutt Pays Tribute to Pritish Nandy

One of the most popular films of PNC was Kaante (2002) which was Sanjay Dutt's movie and gained immense praise among the fans. Sanjay Dutt has done two films with Pritish including Kaante and Shabd (2005). He shared a heartfelt message for the veteran media personality. 

He wrote, "A true creative genius and a kind soul, you will be missed sir."

Anil Kapoor is Heartbroken for Dear Friend's Loss

Pritish has generated good entertainment connections as not only Anupam Kher but Anil Kapoor was also a good friend of Pritish Nandy. As mentioned by Anil, this loss left him heartbroken and shocked. 

He took to X and wrote words of appreciation for Pritish. He said, "Shocked and heartbroken by the loss of my dear friend Pritish Nandy. A fearless editor, a brave soul, and a man of his word, he embodied integrity like no other."

Overall, the entertainment industry is baffled by the death of prominent producer Pritish Nandy. The cause of Pritish Nandy's death is said to be cardiac arrest, it was also reported that he was suffering from pancreatic cancer.
