The bail hearing for Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav is scheduled for today, February 12, 2026. The actor is currently lodged in Tihar Jail after surrendering earlier this month. His legal team has filed a bail application, and his family is waiting for the court’s decision.

Padam Singh Defends Rajpal Yadav’s Intentions
Actor Padam Singh has come forward to defend Rajpal Yadav. Padam (a long-time friend and co-star) recently spoke to NDTV about the situation. He linked Yadav’s financial troubles to his 2012 film Ata Pata Laapata.
Padam praised Yadav’s dedication to the project. He said, “He made Ata Pata Laapata with very forward-thinking and with great sincerity. He directed it himself, and most people in the film industry worked on it enthusiastically. Secondly, the investment that came in for the film at that time kept increasing with interest. He is a very mentally strong person and has the strength to face any situation. He has the blessings of Gurudev.”
The film featured a strong cast, including Om Puri, Asrani, Govind Namdev, Dara Singh and Ashutosh Rana. Padam noted that many actors joined the project because they believed in its purpose.
He also recalled the demanding production schedule. Padam said, “Many people worked on Ata Pata Laapata. Several well-known actors were part of it. It took about two to two and a half years to make the film, and there was some delay.”

Reflecting on the film’s scale, he added, “The film was very grand, and world champion Dara Singh played an important role in it. In my opinion, this was one of Dara Singh ji’s last films. Rajpal tried to make a good film, but it did not succeed.”
Padam strongly defended Yadav’s character. He said, “He is a person with very pure intentions. If he is given time, he has the ability to repay every single rupee to everyone, and he will do so. His intentions are absolutely clean. I have known him since 1997, personally, as family and as a guru-brother. He has always done things for others.”

The cheque bounce case involves multiple dishonoured cheques linked to dues reportedly worth around Rs 9 crore. The complaints were filed under the Negotiable Instruments Act after several repayment cheques allegedly bounced.
Reports suggest the dispute began with a business transaction. Yadav allegedly received about Rs 5 crore to finance film production. However, he failed to repay the agreed amount to the complainant company. Despite several attempts at settlement and mediation, the matter continued in court.
In 2024, Yadav received temporary relief when his sentence was conditionally suspended. However, payment delays led the Delhi High Court to reject his request for more time. The court then directed him to surrender.
Rajpal Yadav complied with the order on February 5, 2026, and surrendered at Tihar Jail after his final appeal was dismissed. Around that time, he made emotional public statements. He admitted to facing severe financial stress and difficulty arranging funds.
During this difficult phase, several members of the film industry extended support. Bollywood actors Sonu Sood, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Varun Dhawan reportedly offered help. Music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh pledged Rs 1.11 crore to assist Yadav. Others, including singer Mika Singh and television actor Gurmeet Choudhary, also stepped forward. Political personality Tej Pratap Yadav was reported to have contributed as well.
Rajpal Yadav’s wife, Radha Yadav, publicly thanked those who supported the actor.
