Ramayana Box Office Collection Day 1: Dream Opening Or Short On Expectations? Weekend Holds the Key to Its Fate

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Ramayana: Part 1 has posted a big opening, though trackers differ on the exact figure. The weekend will show whether the film can sustain the momentum.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 released on Thursday, November 5, carrying huge expectations. The first-day numbers are in, and they are strong, though the exact figure depends on which tracker you read.

Day 1 Numbers

Sacnilk reports that the film earned Rs 40.97 crore across 17,916 shows in India on its opening day. Bollywood Hungama’s box office page lists a higher figure of ₹62.47 crore on Day 1, across 24,444 shows at 36.94% occupancy. The gap likely reflects different cut-off times and show counts, since one report notes the film had crossed Rs 40 crore by 5 PM. Final figures may settle in between, so treat the exact number with caution.

Language-Wise Split

According to Sacnilk, the Hindi version led with Rs 29.28 crore. Kannada followed with Rs 5.19 crore, likely helped by Yash’s fan base, then Telugu with Rs 4 crore. Tamil collected Rs 1.64 crore and Malayalam 86 lakh.

Dream Opening Or Short On Expectations?

By most measures, it is closer to a dream start. Bollywood Hungama described the opening as one that smashed all pre-Diwali records. Occupancy built through the day, from about 27% in the morning to nearly 49% in the night shows, which suggests good word of mouth. Early reviews have been largely positive, with some debate over music and storytelling.

Still, for a film reportedly made on a budget of around Rs 4,000 crore across two parts, a big opening alone is not enough. The film needs a long run to justify that scale.

Why The Weekend Matters

Day 1 reflects fan anticipation, while the weekend shows how audiences actually respond. Key things to watch:

  • Day 2 and 3 growth: a jump on Saturday and Sunday would signal strong word of mouth.
  • Family audiences: a mythological epic depends on repeat and multi-generation viewing.
  • Premium formats: IMAX and 4DX shows can lift per-ticket earnings.
  • Hindi belt hold: the Hindi version carries the biggest share of the total.
