Kangana Ranaut is known for speaking her mind. She rarely avoids tough questions and often gives direct answers. So when she attended an interactive session with News18 on February 27, many expected bold statements. And that is exactly what happened. During the session, Kangana was asked to react to some of the biggest names in Hindi cinema like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra. The rapid-fire round quickly grabbed attention online.
Kangana Called TOXIC For Choosing Salman Khan Over Shah Rukh Khan
When asked to choose her best friend among Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, Kangana laughed and replied, “Ye mere dost kab se bann gaye (laughs).” The audience laughed with her. However, when she was pushed to name the one she liked the most, she said, “I think Salman is quite cool.”
Her comment went viral within hours. Soon, Reddit users began sharing reactions. One user wrote, “And people call her a symbol of woman empowerment. Nobody in Bollywood has the guts to say anything negative about Salman.”
DON'T MISS
Another commented, “When she trolls the young nepos, everyone agrees with her and laughs at her words, and when she supports Salman and praises him, the conversation suddenly turns to anything but what she is saying.”
A third user said, “A toxic finding another toxic cool. What a surprise!”
Kangana Ranaut On Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan And Industry Feuds
Over the years, Kangana Ranaut’s relationship with the Khans has changed. She once criticised industry practices such as nepotism, age gaps between actors and actresses, and weak roles written for women. Later, she clarified that her “battles” were never personal.
In fact, she has described her bond with Salman as “special” and called him a “good friend”. She also said he supported her film Emergency. At the same time, she has often compared herself to Shah Rukh Khan, calling both of them “self-made outsiders”. However, she has added that her journey was harder because she came from a small village and not a big city.
Coming back to the latest interview, the conversation later turned to younger actors like Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan. When asked who she thought was the better actress, Kangana laughed and said, “Let’s go with Ananya Panday.”
The remark surprised many because she had earlier mocked Ananya on The Kapil Sharma Show, calling her a “Bolly-bimbo”.
Kangana’s Sharp Dig At Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap
Another strong moment came when Kangana was asked to choose the better director among Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra. Instead of selecting one, she criticised the question itself.
She said, “Meri jo filmmaking aur acting ke liye jo liking hai, mere standards itne low nahi jitne aapke hai. Kam se kam list toh achi banani thi.”
Her issues with Karan Johar date back to her 2017 appearance on Koffee with Karan, where she called him the “flag-bearer of nepotism” and “movie mafia”. Although that controversy once dominated headlines, she does not speak about it as often now.
On the work front, Kangana is set to reunite with R Madhavan for an untitled psychological thriller. The film will mark their reunion after the successful Tanu Weds Manu franchise.
